The re-activated 12th United States Colored Heavy Artillery draws it's membership from the bluegrass region of central Kentucky, and is headquartered at Camp Nelson Heritage Park, located approximately 20 miles South of Lexington. The unit attends reenactments & living history programs in Kentucky, and the mideastern states. The unit also hosts a living history in the spring at Camp Nelson.
