Bennie McRae Historian Bennie J. McRae is a friend of the 12th Regiment and webmaster of Lest We Forget. He has turned his love of African American history into a Web site that covers everything from Buffalo Soldiers to Reconstruction.
The 12th Regiment boys put their 10 lb. Parrot rifle to good use, grabbing the top prize in the Mill Springs Battlefield 2006 LIVE SHOOT. The cannon-firing units were scored on their form, distance, and accuracy. Congratulations to the 12th on their artillery skills!
Sculptor Ed Hamilton confers with
members of the 12th Regiment on the steps of the Camp Nelson Perry House in 2003. Hamilton fashioned the famed Spirit of Freedom Civil War monument which stands in Washington, DC.
The Spirit of Freedom Monument was unveiled in 1998 and depicts members of the 54th Massachusetts USCT.
